Dr. Maria Gogova,M.D., Ph.D., serves as vice president and chief scientific officer for Altria Client Services. In this role, she leads the science organization in developing the strategies andbuilding the scientific capabilities that will help Altria achieve its vision toresponsibly lead the transition of adult smokers to a smoke-free future.

Previously, Dr. Gogova served as vice president of regulatory sciences, focusing her team’s work in support of Altria’s tobacco product portfolio, including reduced-risk products.

Dr. Gogova joined Altria in 2002 and has applied her past experience as a physician, investigator, clinical study manager, and clinical pharmacologist to shape Altria’s framework for bringing reduced harm tobacco products to market. Prior to her current role, she held several leadership positions in which she supported responsible product development by generating the scientific evidence needed to support product applications submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. She has authored numerous scientific publications, holds six U.S. patents, and frequently presents on tobacco harm reduction to public health and regulatory audiences.

Prior to joining Altria, Dr. Gogova served as an internal medicine physician at the Oncology Department of St. Elizabeth Cancer Institute in Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
